what a great way to learn shapes, colors, problem-solving and all kinds of language goodies…my 2 year old son really enjoys this puzzle. Right now, his favorite thing to do is “juggle” the triangles, but he also likes doing the puzzles. The pictures and shapes they use are cute, too.
I got this for my twins when they had just turned 2. It was slightly challenging, but soon they mastered all the puzzles, and I was afraid they would outgrow it too quickly. However, they never got bored with it.
Now the twins are almost 3 years old, and they are using this to learn new things! They get so excited about using the triangles to make rectangles and squares. They will do the ship and the house puzzles with triangles only, filling in the big square and rectangle spaces with two or four triangles instead.
I also have a daughter who is 15 months old. She loves the puzzles now, too. She fills in the circle and oval pieces, but the other shapes are a little too hard for her to do by herself. There are plenty of puzzle boards and shape pieces for all three kids to do the puzzles at the same time.
The shapes are painted wood. We do have a few teeth marks in them after a year of play, but they have held up very well. The puzzles have been thrown around a lot, and they still look like new. I’m sure we’re missing a circle or triangle here and there, but there are enough pieces that we don’t miss the couple pieces we may have lost.
I definitely think this has prepared my twins for more advanced pattern blocks – now I just have to decide which set to buy!
