This was my 1 year old son’s b’day present. I looked at several models and chose this table based on its size and price.
Set up took about 5 minutes, including the time it took to open the sand and pour it in. The table is very sturdy and deep enough to let the shovels and pails really dig in there. The lid is held by elastic ties on 2 sides of the table. It is not waterproof but I have found that whatever little water does wind up in the table only aids the kids in packing the sand in their toys. Also, the table version here is much better than the sand boxes that lie on the floor if you plan to use it on a deck. When you go to sweep off the sand that has spilled it gets under the ladybug/turtle sand boxes and is impossible to get out. And it traps moisture between the bottom of the floor and the deck which could, in time, warp the wood. We are putting our old sand table (the turtle floor-bound version) in the yard sale next year.
This could be used for a variety of applications: sand table, water table, rice/bean table, and we are coming back to purchase another for the kids to use indoors as a playdoh table so I don’t have to peel playdoh out of the carpets anymore. My 4 and 6 year olds love it and would play with it all day.
No flaws that I can think of after 4 months of use. We are very happy!
If there is anything in your yard, it should be a sandbox. The Naturally Playful Sand Table is a great deal (cheaper than other products out there) and holds up to some rough playing. Assembly is VERY easy and it can hold a pretty decent amount of sand. Being a table, the only messy parts of the body are the hands (mostly, depending on the child!) and we really like how the lid is also a car track. The lid is easy to get on and off but doesn’t hold out the rain too efficiently. But, some wet sand just makes it easier/better to make castles with! This is a backyard favorite at our house; I can’t think of a day of play without digging into it.
