Guess Who Extra Reviews:

We’ve had several Guess Who games over the years and have always enjoyed it. The reason for multiple games is that over time, the pieces do tend to break, it was never a very well-made game, but always lots of fun (and I suppose the breakage is a testament to how often the games was played). This game kicks the fun up a notch by having many different types of characters to choose from, including monsters and appliances, which can make the game a little more silly and the questions more creative. The sound isn’t really necessary, but they make it part of the game by suggesting different versions you can play with it outside of the standard Guess Who rules. This includes a game where you cannot speak and you have to use the yes and no buttons. Either way, my daughter loves pressing the buttons (and she’s 7!) . . . it just makes it a little more fun. If you love the original Guess Who, I think you’ll love this game, too. We do! Oh, and it does seem more well-made than the original, much more sturdy and heavy, which is a plus. Hopefully I won’t have to buy 3 more in the future like I did the others!
Based upon how much our family always loved the original Guess Who…I ordered two of these for Christmas gifts. Our 10 year old nephew was ecstatic (the lights and noises are JOY for a 10 year old boy). He played with his Mom, his 25 year old cousin and they LOVED it too. The Mom said that the lights/noises aren’t needed to play ~ so when adults play and wish not to have the KID sounds…you CAN play without them. Everyone really liked all the various options AND that the original characters are still available. The game is designed so that it can store self-contained – another perk our nephew liked.

Beep, beep! Tweet-tweet! Ribbet! This all-new game of Operation offers a full multi-sensory experience like never before. In this game of silly skills, it’s all about the senses. Hilarious sound effects are sure to tickle your funny bone, and new funatomy parts include textured, gooey parts. There is also a success button on the patient’s nose. Rather than cards or money, the game now prompts players on which part to remove next. Features 2 skill levels and a storage drawer for all the funatomy parts. For one or more player. Requires 4 “AAA” batteries, not included.
This Operation silly skill game features bells, burps, barks and more. Grab your tweezers and hold your hand steady. What do you hear? It sounds like a toilet flushing…looks like Cavity Sam has a case of bad plumbing, Eeeeeek. Can you “operate” and help him out? Press his nose to find out if your operation was a success, then listen up and the game will tell you what to grab next. Will you be the top doc?

Operation Reviews:

this game is just as fun as it was when i was a kid. the new sounds are a welcome addition to the game. if you enjoyed playing the original game i highly recomend getting this one.
I got this game as a gift after having not played it for years. It is just as fun now as ever. If you have kids that you want to introduce to a game that you used to love, this is the one to get for them. They will love it, and it will probably bring back a lot of fond memories for you too!
great classic game from my own childhood. Bought this for my 7 year old for Christmas and all 3 of my kids (4,6,7) love playing it. Great new features make it more interesting.

Take the challenge of the only 4-in-a-row game for 4 players. Doubling the grid and doubling the number of players creates more challenge and more fun. Take turns dropping a checker into the grid to create a line of 4 checkers horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, just like the original Connect 4. The double-sided grid allows you to make a line on either side, or by weaving through from one side to the other. For 4 players, ages 8 and up.
Connect 4 x 4 is similar to the classic original, but now you can play with up to four people, and the double-sided grid adds greater complexity and more chances to win. Designed for ages eight and up, Connect 4 x 4 may have doubled the challenge, the amount of players, and the grid–but the fun and scoring are still the same: four in a row and you win!
Double-sided Grid, More Colors, New Pieces
Connect 4 x 4 is the only checkers four-in-a-row, four-player game–making it perfect for family game nights. With the new double-sided grid, you can score on both the front and back side of the game.
Game play is simple–pick a line, drop a checker in on each turn, and hope that your opponents don’t foil your strategy before you get four checkers in a row! The game has also added “blockers,” which can be used to block your opponents on both sides of the grid in one turn. However, make sure to save your blockers for when you really need them–you only get two and they are valuable!
When you’re finished playing Connect 4 x 4, a convenient locking top slide keeps the pieces on the grid so you never have to worry about lost checkers.

Connect 4 x 4 Reviews:

Connect 4×4 is a sleek, stylish update to the timeless, albeit simple, classic game. The ability to play on multiple planes adds a welcome level of complexity. And playing with more than 2 players makes it much tougher to force a win, which is helpful because it takes a lot more work (or one of a player’s precious few Blocker pieces) to block a win as well.
My only misgiving about this game is that in an unbalanced play group, a poor player will give a massive advantage to the player following him. But even with this setback, it’s a surprisingly intense experience that I would highly recommend. If the idea of a thinking man’s Connect Four appeals to you, this is a dream come true.
If you’ve ever played Connect Four, you’ll immediately understand the attraction of playing with three or four players. With two players, you’ve got strategy. With three or four, you’ve got politics. Sometimes, you just have to cooperate with the very people you are competing against, just to keep someone else from winning. Such is the nature of playing with more than two.

And it’s prettier – having four colors instead of two. Colored rings, even.

But that’s just part of what makes this game so worthy of our collective consideration. The other part is the channels that accommodate the ex-checker rings. They’re double-wide, double-sided. Which means that two rings fit where only one ring used to. And you win regardless of whether your ring is in the front or back of a channel – as long as there are four-in-a-row of your color.

There are also two “blocker” pieces for each color. Double-wide themselves, they fit into both sides of a channel. The blockers are powerful pieces, which is why you only have two of them, which is why you have to conserve them, which is what makes the game all the more inviting for people who like to ponder.

The strategic implications of all this are profound and subtle. Profound enough to make you have to rethink pretty-much everything you know about how to win Connect Four, subtle enough to make the game challenging enough to attract an adult audience, and perhaps too challenging for younger children. But, like Connect Four, the mechanics of dropping checkers into different columns, of being able to empty the entire board by moving the retaining wall on the bottom are still very much present, and at least fascinating enough to keep the toy-value of the game as playworthy as the game itself.

Hasbro has been full of gleeful surprises of late. Though they’ve been releasing new versions of their licensed products for a while, they have taken great efforts, in most cases, to make sure that the new releases are also new games – different enough from their predecessors to be worthy of serious consideration. Elegant enough to be easy to learn and to invite players to develop their own variations. Fun enough to sustain many hours of thought-provoking, deeply engaging play.
