My daughter (8) played chess in school, it was a short class so this helps keep her practicing. It does not really teach strategic planning (check/mate moves) but gives the overall instructions and even if you never played, it teaches basic moves. I would recommend this game and I have to others. Great way to get started with the game of chess. I would get a beginner book to go along with it for more instruction.
I gave my 7 year old son this game for Christmas and we played it for hours. It is an excellent way to learn how to play chess without the stress . I also liked that they gave 3 different ways you could play. That made it even more interesting. Also, the other ways give children the opportunity to win, as my child did several times against me. If we played regular chess he would not have had a chance LOL! I would definitely recommend this game.
This was the perfect solution! My 7 year old daughter has desparately wanted to play chess with her dad and brother. Her brother learned chess in spite of his dad’s teaching. (My husband just does NOT have the patience to teach!) But, at 13 he does not have the patience, yet, to even play a stressful game like chess with her.
With no stress chess, we’ve all played games together, with no tears and no yelling. My daughter has a good understanding of the pieces and their moves, and she’s beginning to pick up strategy. She and her brother actually played a real game of chess, with no conflicts!

It brings out the competitiveness in everybody and gets your blood going. The first round we all sat nicely at the dining room table and by the end of the second round we were all standing and shouting hysterically. This game would make a great ice breaker.
My family and friends loved this game and played till we started to lose our voices! Takes only a minute or two to explain the rules. When we have visitors from abroad it’s tough to find a game that they can participate in. Pit is perfect. Great for those who use Sign Language as well.
I played this game when I was a kid and when we went for a family reunion, a cousin brought this game and taught it to all of our kids. They enjoyed it so much that they begged me to buy it. Super Scrabble Deluxe Edition Reviews:

This new Scrabble game is loads of fun and a lot more challenging than the regular game. To make it more fun we play with 14 letters instead of the usual seven. This way we write a lot of seven and more letter words for a high scoring game. Great family fun with loads of double, triple and quadruple points!
My wife and I haven’t stopped playing since we got it a month ago.
This large plastic gameboard has raised edges framing each square on the board that help keep the pieces in place.
It rotates by using tiny ballbearings encased throughout the bottom of the board. It works best on a large, flat, solid surface. It is a bit awkward rotating this large board especially if you have anything else around it. We play the game on a table all by itself and keep score, drinks, etc… on a side table.
It is roughly TWICE the size and has TWICE as may letters as the standard scrabble game so more and longer words can be formed. It takes much longer to complete a game too. We are often leaving an “unfinished” game up overnight and continue it the next day and have even left “Your Turn” note on the board with the last word spelled.
We are very pleased with “Super Deluxe Scrabble”… A++
